The Riley 12/6 Riley Mentone chassis number 44T111 was introduced to the motoring press at the 1932 Olympia Motor-show, after the gilts and glamour of the motor-show that same car was registered on the 5th November 1932 as the works demonstrator with registration number KV2945!
Our client purchased KV2945 in 1997 from his good friend and Riley restorer Paul Conner who had been its custodian for the previous 30 years. Paul had restored KV2945 during his care. The last 21 years whitest in the capable hands of the present custodian KV2945 has been an extremely successful pair, proving to be a capable rally car, along with winning numerous concourse awards at local Preston Vintage car club events and international meeting of the Riley register in Coventry.
The last 5 years KV2945 has had more limited use, due to the vendors increasing years, and more recently surrendering his driving license. It is thought best to offer this important Riley saloon to the open market. As one final treat his son drove over the vendor to our showroom, and by the sound of it, they had a great time down memory lane.
Before placing on the open market Paul Conner has given KV2945 an oil service and general check over. Cosmetically the car present extremely well, we have just had all four road wings bare-metal stripped, with areas of corrosion professionally repaired, then re-painted in cellulose. The main body painted work is very good condition as in the upper fabric portion along with the opening roof. Which I can confirm is watertight as I had the joy of testing this when driving KV2945 back from the paint shop during a rainstorm. The rear axle ratio has been changed to a 4.9:1 so a 70 MPH top cruising speed is achievable. She sits happily at 60 mph without feeling hurried and the speedo is accurate. Perfect VSCC Measham in early 2019, and ready for inspection and test drive at our showroom.
